Aishwarya Rai to play Mumtaz Mahal in “Taj”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked really royal when she played queen Jodha in Ashutosh Gowariker’s film “Jodha-Akbar”. She is again playing another princely role as Mumtaz Mahal in Ben Kingsley’s “Taj” which will deal with one of the greatest love stories recorded in Indian history.
Ben Kingsley, who won the Oscar for playing the Mahatma in Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi”, is producing “Taj” in English for which the screen play has been written by David Ashton of “The Shadow of the Serpent” fame.
In this period film on the legendary Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal love story, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan acts opposite Kingsley with whom she had earlier acted in the 2007 Hollywood film “The Last Legion”.
“Taj” is likely to go on floors sometime in the middle of next year.
