Aishwarya Rai Comes Back With Mani Ratnam Film
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is now on a maternity leave, will make her come back into films with Mani Ratnam’s adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s classic novel Rebecca (1938).
The novel Rebecca tells the story of Mrs de Winter, a newly married woman, who is constantly compared to the first wife of her husband by the housekeeper. While she feels belittled by the shadow of the deceased lady of the house, she later realises that her husband was never in love with his first wife.
Aishwarya made her screen debut with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar (1997). She worked with the director again in Guru(2007) and Raavan (2010). She will make her come back with the Rebecca adaptation, a complete woman-centric film in 2013.
