After Silk Smitha, Now A Film On Divya Bharathi
After successfully making The Dirty Picture which was based on the life and times of Silk Smitha, Bollywood is now getting ready to make a film on Divya Bharathi, who in just three years made a name for herself and widely predicted to reach the number one position, died after falling from her apartment’s balcony on April 5, 1993.
Filmmaker Vikram Sandhu, who earlier made Shaheed Bhagat Singh, has completed the script and is searching for a new face which has some resemblance to Divya Bharathi.
Divya made her debut with Venkatesh starrer Bobbili Raja in 1990. She acted in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. She married Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala in 1992. And in just three years she acted in 23 films.
Around midnight of 5 April 1993, Bharti fell to her death from a five-storey Versova apartment building in Mumbai. There was much speculation by the media regarding Bharathi’s sudden demise, including the possibility of accidental death, well planned conspiracy or even murder. Police closed the investigation in 1998, but the circumstances of her death still remain a mystery.
