Kashmir and Dal Lake were synonymous with Bollywood romantic cinema during the 1960s and 70s. Most of the duets of hero and heroine used to be canned there. Sharmila Tagore’s debut film Kashmir Ki Kali opposite Shammi Kapoor was completely shot in Kashmir. The beautiful valley was the favourite spot of Yash Chopra, until 25 years ago, when he shifted to Switzerland to get the snow filled mountain peaks as the backdrop.
Bollywood shooting those days was also a big business opportunity for the people of Kashmir as it boosted tourism. Now that Kashmir is relatively calm, the J & K government has requested Bollywood producers to come over there for regular shoots.
Yash Chopra is now in Kashmir with a crew of 150 along with the stars shah rukh khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. SRK is playing the role of a bomb disposal expert of the Indian Army. The shooting will take place at Srinagar, Pahalgam and Gulmarg. This is said to be the final schedule of shooting.
The entire film unit has been provided with a three-tier security ring including police commandos for proximate security by the government of J & K.
This untitled romantic film is scheduled to release on this year’s Diwali festival day.
