Abhishek Bachchan in Dhulia’s Hamlet adaptation

Bollywood has a fascination for William Shakespeare and his plays Othello, Macbeth and King Lear have been adapted to make the films Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara (2006) and Maqbool (2004) and Rituparno Ghosh’ The Last Lear (2008).

Now one more of the Bard’s plays Hamlet is being adapted for a Hindi movie with Abhishek Bachchan playing the central role. The film will be directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia whose previous release Paan Singh Tomar was a hit at the box office. Presently Dhulia is busy with Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster 2.

This yet to be titled film will be produced by Goldie Behl and Shrishti Arya under the banner of Rose Movies. It will go on floors soon.
