Abhay Deol prefers off-beat films

Abhay Deol somehow does not lean towards mainstream commercial cinema as his father and two elder brothers do. He seems to prefer the forbidden territory of off-beat films.

Fresh from the success of Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Deol is currently excited about the Anurag Kashyap-directed Dev D, which releases this February. This film is a contemporary take on the classic film Devdas. He plays a modern-day Devdas who is addicted to his Paro, played by newcomer Kalki who incidentally happens to be Kashyap’s real-life girlfriend.

Abhay is now getting ready to play the protagonist in Junction, a high-voltage drama to be written and directed by Atul Sabharwal.
