Bollywood actor-producer-director Aamir Khan, who won international recognition with Lagaan, Peepli Live and the recent Dhobi Ghat, has been nominated to be on the jury of the 61st Berlin International Film Festival held between 10th and 20th February.
This is also means that a time has come when the international film makers community is taking Indian cinema seriously. In terms of volume, India produces the maximum number of films in more than ten languages. According to recent trends, Bollywood type of song-dance-drama is slowly catching up with the world audience.
Aamir is part of the jury along with Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, Australian producer Jan Chapman, German actress Nina Hoss, Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin and British costume designer Sandy Powell. Italian actress Isabella Rossellini will head the jury.
