A genius called Shankar
Director Shankar (born August 17, 1963), who is known for making blockbusters has something more to offer this September with his Robot.
His films Indian and Jeans were nominated by India for Oscar awards. He began his career as an assistant to SA Chandrasekhar. He was later appointed as an assistant director to Pavithran.
His first film Gentleman, with the highest budget in Tamil cinema at the time and became a super hit. The film remake in Hindi with Chiranjeevi as hero but failed at the box-office.
He made his Bollywood foray with Nayak. His film Boys was a moderate grosser. The film introduced Siddharth among others and provided Genelia her first commercial success.
Shankar’s 2005 blockbuster Aparichitudu was known for being made with the most amount of cameras and winning the most awards for a single film during the following year’s award ceremonies.
Sivaji released in 2007 became the highest grossing Indian film of its time. Shankar will direct 3 Idiots remake in Telugu and Tamil.
