The Maharashtra government will watch Aamir Khan’s blockbuster “3 Idiots” to judge if ragging has been glorified in the film and may ask the censor board to delete such scenes that could promote the menace. One of the scenes from the film showed freshers played by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan being ragged by their seniors in the hostel.
The state government move on Monday came amid reports that the nature of the ragging incident in a medical college in Mumbai was similar to a scene in the blockbuster.
Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Vijaykumar Gavit said the censor board will be asked to delete such scenes in the film that had the potential to inspire or provoke ragging. 18 students of Seth G S Medical College were arrested on Sunday on charges of ragging and released on bail on Monday.
A voluntary organisation working against ragging in India has recently complained to the , Supreme Court appointed anti-ragging committee about the menace being glorified in the film “3 Idiots”.
