Abhishek Chaubey’s forthcoming film ‘Udta Punjab’ is in news for sometimes. At first the lead actor of the film Shahid Kapoor was unavailable. Kareena Kapoor agreed to do the film on the condition that she will not share a single frame with Shahid.
Now it is said that a major film studio which was producing the film has denied the same. And now Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films is the only producer left for the film. The makers of the film are keen to start the regular shoot of the film from next month.
A source from the industry said, “It will start rolling in Punjab from March 1. The actors have been told that they will get their remuneration only when a film studio comes on board. They have agreed to this condition as they loved the script. As of now, Phantom will be funding the film.”
it is also said by a source that the makers of the film are searching for someone who can co-produce the film, “After this particular studio backed out of the project, they approached several producers, but without success. However, the search is still on.”
‘Udta Punjab’ is based on the drug mafia and drug abuse in Punjab. The film features Alia Bhatt and Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh in prominent roles along with Shahid and Kareena.
Abhishek however was not available to comment about the film.
