‘Mary Kom’ Banned in Boxer’s Hometown

The much-awaited biopic of Olympic medal-winning boxer, MC Mary Kom, played by priyanka chopra which is a tribute to Mary Kom, is all set to release on September 5, 2014.
The entire nation is eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of mighty Priyanka pack some punch on-screen, but it is rumoured that ‘Mary Kom’ is unlikely to release in the fiery boxer’s hometown, Manipur.
As per the reports, Since the state is witnessing a ban on Hindi movies and Hindi TV shows from 2000, so the movie will not be screened in Manipur.

The ban has been imposed by separatist group ‘Revolutionary Peoples Front’ , who wish to make Manipur an independent socialist state.
This is not the only hurdle that ‘Mary Kom’ is likely to face. The Manipuris are not too happy with Pee Cee depicting the boxer on screen. They wanted a North-Eastern to step into the shoes of MC Mary Kom.
