In pursuance with an agreement between Israel and Andhra Pradesh, Elbiet, the Israeli dairy giant, is setting up one of the world’s largest diary units in the state.
The company proposed a dairy with 10,000 cows to start with and about 4 lakh litre milk production every day. The initial investment would be more than Rs 100 crore and the government is allotting 350 acres of land. The HM breed cows, which could give 40 litres milk every day, will be reared at the dairy. The company also requires grass to be grown in about 2000 acres.
The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekar Reddy wants the Isarael dairy to be set up in his Pulivendula constituency.
Another Israeli company which is the world’s third largest pesticide and herbicide company will also set up their manufacturing base in the state.
