Sony TV gets back IPL-2 telecast rights
Sony Television approached the Bombay High Court against the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) after the latter terminated Sony’s telecast contract and entered into a new contract for broadcast and other rights for the IPL-2 season with World Sports Group of Mauritius.
Justice S J Kathawala of Bombay HC made it clear that till the order is pronounced, BCCI shall not enter into any new agreements on broadcast rights.
Meanwhile, Sony TV and BCCI have entered into an out of court settlement and Sony Television retained the telecast rights of the IPL-2 season.
The financial implications of the deal have not been made public.
