Sensex zooms up on strong global cues
Bombay Stock Exchange staged a sharp rally on Wednesday on strong global cues and lower crude oil prices.
BSE benchmark Sensex closed at 13,964.26, up 614.61 points or 4.60 percent. It touched a high of 13,998.48 and low of 13,581.41 in the day. National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 4163.95, up 175.40 or 4.40 per cent. It touched intra-day high of 4169.40 and low of 3990.90.
Midcap and smallcap stocks also participated in the rally. BSE Midcap Index closed 2.87 per cent higher at 5,468.46 and BSE Smallcap Index gained 3.55 per cent to close at 6795.65.
Biggest Sensex gainers were Reliance Infrastructure (up 10.76%), Jaiprakash Associates (10.6%), ITC (6.43%), Tata Consultancy Services (6.39%), Reliance Communications (6.21%) and Reliance Industries (5.83%).
