Sensex maintains 10,000 plus mark
The Sensex climbed 0.6 percent in seesaw trade on Tuesday, stretching gains into a fourth session, but investors were wary about quarterly earnings of corporate that are widely expected to show a downward trend.
The 30-share BSE index closed up 0.59 percent, or 60.33 points, at 10,335.93, adding to gains of more than 3 percent on Monday. The index fell as low as 10,150.68 at one stage weighed down by concerns about quarterly earnings, before pulling back toward the close.
A sharp fall in demand, slowing domestic growth and recession in major world economies such as the United States, euro-zone and Japan are expected to have squeezed profits at Indian companies in the December quarter.
