SENSEX down by 198 points
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Friday closed down by 197 points after a strong opening selling pressure emerged in fag end of trading in heavyweight stocks, particularly in metal, realty and banking sectors.
The 30-share Sensex closed the day 15,572.18, lower by 197.54 points. In choppy trade, the key index touched the day’s low of 15,526.50 and a high of 15,970.70 points.
The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty lost 49.15 points at 4,627.80. It dip to 4,614.25 and rose to 4746.30 points during the day.
Metal sector suffered the most by losing 199.20 points at 15,515.39, followed by realty index by 115.75 points at 6,210.30. Banking sector index lost 82.30 points at 7,266.28.
Elsewhere, capital goods index fell by 78.99 points at 12,032.64, FMCG index by 64.28 points at 2361.88, oil and gas index by 55.75 points at 10,006.08, PSU index by 52.95 points at 6666.59 and IT index by 18.85 points at 4598.59.
