Mukesh Ambani to roll out 4G data services
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which made a comeback to telecom sector in 2010, plans to offer fourth-generation high-speed data services on economically priced tablets, at a price of just Rs 3,000, by early next year.
A countrywide network would be in place by the middle of 2012. The company plans to offer 4G-enabled data cards that can be plugged into computers and laptops.
RIL is presently negotiating with media and entertainment company Walt Disney’s Indian venture UTV Software, to acquire content for its wireless broadband offerings, which will enable the company to offer games, entertainment and applications for the younger customers.
