A decade is getting over. A decade is always a good enough time to reminisce the changes and the movement we have made forward.
2001-2010 has definitely been a path braking decade for telugu film industry. New Heroes are born in this decade. New directors have taken a leap to change the face of the Telugu Film Industry. Both budgets and collected have reached never heard numbers and TFI has gone global.
Faction and love stories were popular when the decade started and the industry was dominated by big stars like Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna. The decade saw emergence of new generation stars like NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Prabhas, Naga Chaitanya etc., Most of them make their career in this decade and have proven their mettle. The decade also saw emergence of directors like S S Rajamouli, Shekhar Kammula, Bhaskar, Anand Ranga, Trivikram, Harish Shankar and Vamsy Paidipalli who have proven that they would prefer to take a beaten track and make the films that are more original and different from the rest. Genres have gone thru a change but love and faction still remain favorites. Family dramas are still loved. Whatever may be the genre, the audience are liking lighthearted movies with little space for tear jerking sentiment.
Music directors like Devi Sri Prasad, Thaman, Mickey J Meyer made inroads into the telugu film industry though the seniors like M M Keeravani, Manisharma are still ruling the roost.
We have also seen new genre of producers like Dil Raju, C kalyan and Venkat coming into the industry and bringing in changes in trends of film making.
The film budgets and collections have undergone huge changes. We have seen films that are made with 40-50 Crores and collecting more than 60 Crores. With the advent of satellite TV and widespread piracy, the life of films has gone down and today we are rarely finding any movies that run for 100 days.
Let me list few movies that made difference in the history of Telugu Film Industry in the last decade. The list is made with top2 films in an year on the basis of collections. If you find any of your favorite movies in the list, blame me for my taste and intelligence of understanding of the dynamics of box office.
