Rising prices may cost the ruling party dearly
The rising prices of essential items may upset the apple cart of ruling congress in the state. Nominal increase in the food and vegetables is a common thing, but the multifold rise in the very necessary eatables is making a big hole in the common man’s purse.
Generously implementing popular schemes YSR so far has not encountered much resentment from the lower rung of the society and rural public who are major beneficiaries of his policies. The urban middle class who had enjoyed privileged allocation during Naidu’s regime now feel the heat from the both sides. One way they are feeling left out from schemes and the second is their roads and electric power conditions which have worsened. If the rising prices are not contained, the middle class may show its might to the ruling party in the ensuing polls as the farmers did to Naidu in 2004 elections.
