Nestle in Bigger Trouble-Live Insect Larva in Baby Milk Powder and FIR in Bihar

Nestle India was already in a big mess with the Maggi noodles controversy and recently a Bihar court has ordered an FIR to be filed against Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Madhuri Dixit for promoting an unsafe brand. This follows notices from FDA to these stars apart from recalling the brand in UP and planned investigation and recall across the country. The court also ordered any related individual to be arrested if required during the investigation.

In a fresh development, a customer in Tamilnadu had purchased Nestlé’s baby milk powder (Nan Pro) and found live insect Larva in it. The baby who was fed this powder developed a skin allergy and had to be hospitalized. Not to be content with the explanation given by Nestle, he approached the Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department (Food Safety Wing), who tested and found the product unsafe for human consumption and ordered a complete investigation.

Nestle is the world’s largest food company in terms of revenue and originates from Switzerland. The recent developments have been a shocker for its customers, as the brand had always the best in quality standards globally.
