Is this the right time for a “National GovernmentOn the eve of the 5th and last phase of elections for the 15th Lok Sabha, the political scenario looks grim with every political party ditching the ideological plank and hastily trying to forge post-poll alliances only to gain the seat of power.

That there are umpteen political parties and as many aspiring leaders, makes the political scenario that much more complicated and more unpredictable.

Every political pundit and analyst says for sure that there will be a hung parliament. Even the poll surveys conducted by ToI, NDTV, Neilson-ORG-Marg along with other TV Channels and Agencies predict that no single party will get even a simple majority of 272 seats.

There are experts who question the raison d’être of Regional political parties. They argue that by definition and by registration by the Election Commission, a Regional party should only contest regional elections like Panchayat, Municipal and Assembly elections. They take the stand that the Regional parties should be banned from contesting Lok Sabha elections wich should be fought by the National parties.

A National Government would give us the best ministers and circumvents the necessity of horse-trading by the 1st or 2nd or 3rd or the 4th fronts to rope in MPs of lesser parties.
Only a National Government can provide political stability, economic security and an environment for development without any unnecessary political bickering.
