On the road to the old Begumpet Airport at the beginning most probably the Airport Authority of India, erected a very nice looking huge clock a couple of feet or so from the ground level. Such a clock, I am told was erected in Geneva near the Geneva Lake. It is said to be a great attraction for tourists as also citizens, and a favourite of the children They call it the Floral Clock, The Begumpet clock is stated to be a replica of the Geneva Floral Clock, and like there, it used to be a big draw with the tourists when Begumpet Airport was in its heyday. With the closure of Begumpet Airport however, the tourist footfalls on the Airport Road have virtually evaporated, Still some curious onlookers do feast their eyes on the clock, and admire it.
Eventhough the clock was functioning ,people are shocked to see that Airports Authority of India has erected two huge hoardings some ten feet high from the ground level, and about 20 feet wide. This effectively covers any view of the clock.
ONE WONDER WHETHER THE AIRPORT AUTHORITY OF INDIA IS ASHAMED OF THE FLORAL CLOCK AND WANTS NOBODY TO SET EYES ON IT. IF IT IS SHAME THAT PROMPTS THEM, THEN THEY CAN AS WELL REMOVE TO CLOCK ITSELF
Wish that some leaders of Begumpet/Prakashnagar area join hands and ensure that this beautiful landmark which enjoys a pride of place is well preserved
