In Urdu literature one such a formidable combination of peotry and music is Faiz Ahmed Faiz and the Melody Queen Noor Jehan. Faiz has been immortalized by Noor Jehan. Her rendition of Faiz’s “Mujshe pehli si mohabbat mere mehboob na maang” is a unique example of tarranum, reciting poetry as a song.
