Akshay Kumar, the busiest and most bankable Bollywood actor, will have a phenomenal six film releases in 2009. Two of them have already been released.
Chandni Chowk To China
CC2C directed by Nikhil Advani and having Deepika Padukone in dual role, was the first Akshay starrer to release this year, but was a disappointment at the box office.
This supernatural thriller directed by Nagesh Kuknoor had been released last week and getting interesting responses from film critics and cine buffs.
Sajid Nadiadwala’s KI will see Akshay Kumar performing death-defying stunts with Hollywood hunk Sylvester Stallone. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor, Bond girl Denise Richards and Superman actor Brandon Routh.
The film has been shot in the US, Italy and France and has tracks from Playboy playmate Carmen Electra with Sean Kingston and Beyoncé Knowles on the soundtrack. The film is scheduled for a May-end release
Ashtavinayak’s Blue being directed by Anthony D’Souza is touted as the first underwater film in Bollywood. Akshay plays a scuba diving thief and will be seen fighting off sharks on the lonely coasts of the Bahamas.
Akshay co-stars with Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan in this film. He will be seen gyrating with Aussie pop singer Kylie Minogue in the film, which is set for an August 14 release.
De Dhana Dan
Akshay will then be seen in a comedy with director Priyadarshan in De Dhana Dan, which is set for a November release. The film has Akshay team up with Paresh Rawal and Suneil Shetty after Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri.
The final film release of Akshay Kumar in 2009 is Vipul Shah’s Action Replay with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Veteran Randhir Kapoor will be seen in the film after a long hiatus of eight years.
Akshay’s character has been kept under wraps for now and the shooting of the film is in progress at ND Studios in Karjat, Navi Mumbai, and Maharashtra.
