Tirumala Seshachalam hills, the abode of Lord Venkteswara, has been declared as a “biosphere reserve” in the country by the ministry of environment and forest. Two other areas, Chintapalli in Visakhapatnam and Khammam forest area , are in the list to be declared as biosphere reserves.
Declaration of biosphere makes a place “core zone area free from human habitation.” Macro management of the biodiversity in the area is then promoted and its unique ecology is preserved. Seshachalam hills ranges are spread over 8000 square kilometres in Eastern Ghats and falls in Chittoor and Kadapa districts.
